The following FAQs reflect questions you may have as a Donor, as a prospective Participating Non-Profit, or as a representative of the Media.  Should you not see a response to your question, please visit the Contact page to submit your question.

What is #GivingTuesday™?

#GivingTuesday™ (#GT) is a national movement to create a day of giving added to the calendar on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This year, GivingTuesday is on November 29, 2016.

What is #GivingTuesdayBucks?

#GivingTuesdayBucks is part of the national celebration of generosity. It’s a day to build awareness and give a gift that makes an impact—right here in Bucks County. #GivingTuesdayBucks gives you the chance to contribute to important causes in our county.

Who can participate?

Eligible #GivingTuesdayBucks participants must be a registered 501(c)3 non-profit with a service and program area that includes Bucks County. Participating non-profits must also be able to accept online giving via their website.

Corporations, businesses, and individuals can partner with #GivingTuesdayBucks to help make a difference in our community through donation drives, volunteerism, and other forms of philanthropy. Please visit our "Join" pages to learn more!

How does my non-profit organization become an official #GivingTuesdayBucks participant?

Very easily! Please click here for the participant form. Eligible #GivingTuesdayBucks participants must be a registered, 501(c)3 non-profit with a service and program area that includes Bucks County. Participating non-profits must also be able to accept online giving via their website. Once you sign up and complete the participant form, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. #GivingTuesdayBucks steering committee members will review the information and if complete, will upload the information in the participant section. Participant submissions will be accepted until November 15, 2016.

Remember...the sooner you sign up, the more community members will see you on the website.

Can my non-profit organization receive donations through the #GivingTuesdayBucks website?

No. Eligible non-profit organizations participating in the #GivingTuesdayBucks must be able to accept online donations through their website. #GivingTuesdayBucks site will link to those webpages; it does not accept or distribute donations. All donations need to be made through participant websites.

Why should I become a #GivingTuesdayBucks participant?

In 2012, more than 2,500 recognized #GivingTuesday™ participants from all 50 states of the United States took part in the movement. The collective efforts of partners, donors and advocates helped fuel a marked increase in charitable giving on GivingTuesday. Blackbaud processed over $10 million in online donations on 11/27/12 – a 53% increase when compared to the Tuesday after Thanksgiving the previous year. DonorPerfect recorded a 46% increase in online donations and the average gift increased 25%. More than 50 million people worldwide spread the word about GivingTuesday – resulting in milestone trending on Twitter. In 2014, over $225,000 was raised in Bucks County!

In 2015, more than 300,000 partners in 71 different countries participate in #GivingTuesday. $116.7 million was raised in one day from nearly 700,000 donors.

Who can give?

Families, individuals, businesses, organizations, community groups are encouraged to be generous in whatever ways matter to them—whether that means volunteering for one or more of the #GivingTuesdayBucks participants or donating to a favorite cause. Does #GivingTuesdayBucks recommend where to donate or volunteer?

No. #GivingTuesdayBucks does not recommend, support or endorse any specific participating non-profit. Charity Navigator and Guidestar enable donors to access relevant information before making a donation.

How do I receive donation documentation for my records and tax purposes?

Participating non-profits will provide appropriate and necessary donation documentation through their respective offices. If you have additional questions pertaining to this matter, please contact the non-profit you support directly.

Why should I support #GivingTuesdayBucks?

In 2012, the national #GivingTuesday initiative drew over $10 million in online donations, and has seen growth in both the number of participants and the funds raised each year since. In 2014, over $225,000 was raised on Giving Tuesday in Bucks County.  In 2015, more than 300,000 organizations from 71 countries partnered with #GivingTuesday. Nearly 700,000 supporters donated a total of $116.7 million!! Imagine the impact your gift will have and the leverage power when combined with online donors throughout our county and beyond—all for the benefit of Bucks County communities!
